ARMOURCORE PIPING
ArmourCore piping represents a major innovation for industrial process piping and pipeline applications. Allowable working pressures of up to 4.0 MPa and spanning capability of up to 6 metres are now possible through this new generation steel skeleton HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) composite piping product.
ArmourCore piping products have an inner and outer layer of HDPE covering an internal steel wire or steel mesh (perforated plate) skeleton. The steel skeleton HDPE pipe structure combines the strength attributes of steel with the extreme corrosion and abrasion resistance of HDPE.
Plastic Fabricators (WA) Pty Ltd can provide either a supply only or a supply and install service for clients in relation to ArmourCore piping applications.
Advantages of ArmourCore over non reinforced HDPE include;
- Higher design pressures
- Allows wider scope of application, including self spanning capability in piperacks and pipe hangars.
- Lower wall thickness and greater internal diameter for equivalent nominal diameter and pressure rating
- Allows selection of smaller nominal diameter for a given application (potentially resulting in a reduced total cost of installation)
- Higher rigidity and mechanical integrity
- Thermal de-rating coefficient is substantially less for elevated design temperatures
- Substantial reduction in weight per unit length for equivalent pressure rating
- Superior impact resistance
- Much lower thermal expansion coefficient (approx 15% of tradiitional HDPE)
- Excellent creep resistance
Advantages of ArmourCore over steel pipe include;

- Wear resistance superior to steel pipe
- Inner wall is smooth and clean and resistant to scale
- Hydraulic head loss is 30% of that of steel for equivalent internal diameter
- Two sided anti-corrosion without any additional surface treatment

- Lower coefficient of heat conductivity
